Gay players face pressure from teammates, ownership, coaches, and fans over their sexuality. These are some of the men who have come out, fighting those stereotypes, and paving the way for LGBTQ.

If even a couple of German players do come out, it will massively swell the tiny ranks of openly gay pro footballers: at the moment, only six are known of, and one of them – Zander Murray – recently announced he is retiring.

Seventeen male footballers have courageously revealed their sexuality as gay in public so far. Football is a universal sport. So, footballers shouldn’t be insulted or discriminated against based on their sexuality.
